The controversy sparked because viewers found the video to be disturbing and a body-shaming mess. There was also an issue with the video only portraying women’s outfits and nothing about the men’s prom attire.

The school has commented that the video was made by the student broadcast team as a way to help educate the student body of acceptable and unacceptable wardrobe for the prom. “This video is just one form of communication that shares information and expectations of prom activities prior to the event,” says the school. “The Cleveland High student media production team wanted to ensure that everyone in attendance was able to enjoy their time instead of being concerned about appropriate attire. We appreciate the students working toward being good communicators and utilizing innovative tools for getting their point across.”

Nowadays there is a greater display of inappropriate behavior from students in this age group. The fact is that students want to act and dress much more mature than their age, which tends to cause issues. This school wanted to protect its students and prevent any issues that might come up at prom.
