The fourth annual Fashion Freak Fest transformed the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, into a dynamic stage for Caribbean style, creativity, and contemporary fashion culture. Founded by Marielle Araujo, the event unfolded under the theme Maison Caribe Wear the Island, celebrating the region’s visual identity through runway presentations, academic panels, beauty activations, and the participation of national and international designers.
Rather than using the Caribbean as a simple source of inspiration, Maison Caribe presented the island as a complete design language. Its textures, colors, movement, climate, and cultural memory shaped an experience that felt sophisticated, rooted, and contemporary.

Curated by Sócrates McKinney, the runways highlighted contemporary Caribbean identity while creating a dialogue between local heritage and international perspectives. The lineup brought together NICCI SWIM, Crochet Stuff by Allison Cruz, Yenny Vásquez, Yojanna Varela, ARTYPICAL, AVO, Yohanna Gursey, Jeanette Limas, Giannina Azar, Génesis Ruiz & Gina Collado, Sol Tropic Swimwear, Marisol HenrÃquez, MODECO by Emely Polanco, ZEAN by Ismael RodrÃguez, Mundana by Dariela Castilla, Joel Reyes, Victor y Jesse, and Wilson Alcéquiez. Across the catwalks, garments moved between fluidity and structure, softness and drama, showing fashion as both aesthetic expression and storytelling.
Fashion Freak Fest 2026 continued to strengthen its international presence through its strategic partnership with Durango Fashion Week (DUF Week) and Fashion Freak Fest collaborator Jack Ramos highlighted the importance of this alliance, which continues to create international opportunities for designers across Latin America.
This year, the partnership welcomed talented designers from Mexico, reaffirming both platforms' shared commitment to promoting creativity, cultural exchange, and the global growth of emerging fashion talent.
Beyond the runway, the festival brought together designers, models, stylists, beauty artists, entrepreneurs, students, fashion editors, and fashion enthusiasts in an immersive creative environment. Exclusive showcases, brand experiences, and beauty activations positioned Fashion Freak Fest as more than a traditional presentation; it became a platform for connection, visibility, and opportunity.
A key element of the program was Fashion Freak Talks, a series of workshops and panels focused on the fashion industry and the orange economy. These conversations added depth to the event by addressing the business, cultural, and educational dimensions of fashion, while emphasizing professional development for emerging talent.
This edition also marked the official launch of Fashion Freak Magazine, expanding the festival’s impact beyond the live experience and creating a new editorial space for fashion, culture, and creative voices connected to the region.
With Maison Caribe, Fashion Freak Fest 2026 offered a confident vision of Caribbean fashion: elegant, expressive, and globally relevant. The festival did not imitate traditional fashion capitals; it asserted its own point of view, presenting the island not as a backdrop, but as the main character.
